Words

Good Morning SALT Sister!  Hope you are having a blessed week filled with God's peace and strength.   Today I have alot on my heart.   I have been thinking about the various problems and situations that have come about recently in our community and in our world. No matter how gloomy or discouraging a situation is, God still has an answer and a plan. However, sometimes by our words we can actually make things worse. The Bible clearly tells us how the words we speak can be used for good or for bad.  As Christians, I feel it is so important that we guard our words and make sure they are being used for God's glory.  I'm not saying we can't ever say anything that seems negative.  The Bible talks about speaking the truth in love and sometimes the truth seems negative.  On the other hand, we can choose redemptive and encouraging words or maybe sometimes we should not speak at all.  God has brought several scriptures to my mind lately. Ephesians 4:29 says: Let no corrupting

All That I Am

Good morning!  Hope you are doing good today! I was wondering if anyone could use some encouragement this morning.  I sure needed some and God delivered! During my quiet time today, I had trouble even starting to pray.  To be honest, during the last couple of days I have felt like an emotional mess. As I wrote in my prayer journal I told Him of my concerns.   I told Him how weak I felt and how unworthy I felt to share with others. (as if He didn't know)  Finally, I opened my Bible to Psalms 103.  As I began to read, God's Spirit strengthened my soul.   Psalms 103 is packed with awesome encouragement!  Several verses really spoke to me. Psalms 103:1-2 (NLT) says: Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise His holy name.  Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me . What jumped out to me in those verses was "all that I am".  All that I am!?  You mean the sometimes moody, emotional, grumpy Melai

Memories and Investments

Good Morning Salt Sisters!  Another week has passed with lots of memories and investments were made. You see, each day is a gift from God to us. However, what we do with that day is our gift to Him!  When I think of my life as a gift to God it affects the choices I make.   When I think of my choices as investments I think more carefully as to what I spend my time doing.  You might ask what I mean by investments.  I feel that as you relate to the people God has put in your path, you either make deposits or withdrawals from their life.  You either encourage them and point them to Christ or you don't.  I feel when I am pointing people to Christ I am investing in the Kingdom of God.  Along life's journey we meet many different people; some people will always be a part of our lives and some will just pass through.  However, with each person that comes our way is a chance to make a memory and invest in the Kingdom of God. On Monday, I drove to Corsicana to pick up my Mom who spent

Giving Thanks In It All

Good morning Friend!  Hope you are having a great week and enjoying the beautiful weather.  I love Spring with all the pretty flowers, baby chicks, hummingbirds and warmer temperatures!  It's really not hard to thank God on pretty days like these.  However, when the skies are a dreary gray and temperatures are low, it is not always as easy to be thankful. Recently, God has reminded me again of what the Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18: In EVERYTHING give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you !   Wow, that's a tall order!   Give thanks for everything?!   How can we give thanks for everything?  Wait a minute...I left out an important word; IN.   This scripture says IN everything give thanks.  To me, there is a big difference from giving thanks "for" and giving thanks "in".  For example,  I may not give thanks that I am sick with fever, but I can give thanks IN the sickness knowing God is in control and He loves me.  Giving than
